Второе условное описывает нереальные или гипотетические ситуации в настоящем/будущем («If I had more time, I would learn piano»), тогда как третье воображает, каким мог бы быть прошлый опыт («If I had studied harder, I would have passed»).

Поэтому "If I were you…" более формально, чем "If I was you…".

Тип 1 соединяет нереальное прошлое условие с гипотетическим результатом в настоящем («If I had taken that job, I would be in London now»). Тип 2 — нереальное настоящее состояние с гипотетическим прошлым исходом («If I were braver, I would have spoken up»).

Для первого используйте "Should + подлежащее + основа глагола" (Should you need help…). Для второго — "Were + подлежащее + to + глагол" (Were she to accept…). (Had they known earlier…).

Однако есть исключения: "If you will be so kind as to wait…"
